Another day, another crime; however, this time, it's good news.

Nearly R11 billion of funds meant for the public has been recovered as South Africa makes progress in the fight against state capture corruption.

Reacting to the developments, seasoned actress Rami Chuene was shocked to learn how much money was stolen from the state.

She posted a hilarious reaction to an SABCNews broadcast on 28 July 2025, expressing shock at the recovered funds:

Remarkably, the money was not recovered all at once. NovaNEWS reports that recovery efforts date back to October 2022, when the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) recovered R2.9 million, while the Asset Forfeiture Unit secured a whopping R8 billion.

Briefly News reviewed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s progress report on the day of the broadcast.

The report showed how the recommendations from the Chief Justice Raymond Zondo-led State Capture Commission were translating into results.

However, South Africans remain uneasy about the amount of money being stolen from the state, while disadvantaged South Africans continue to struggle.
