Social media user @ThisIsColbert shared a snippet from the Podcast and Chill episode that premiered on Friday, 28 July 2025. In the snippet, MacG weighs in on American political commentator Candace Owens being sued by French President Emmanuel Macron.

MacG suggested that being sued is the norm for a podcaster. He said:

“Before we go, at this point, if you're doing a podcast and you haven't been sued, are you really doing a podcast?”

Sol Phenduka agreed and said that if a podcaster isn’t being sued, then they’re not serious.

“You're not podcasting. You're effing around, man. You're messing around. If you haven't been sued, you're messing around,” Sol Phenduka said.

“But I feel like if you are Candace Owens, you're a podcaster and you're challenging a head of state and you win the case, I think there will be a shift where it's going to bring credibility to the space, okay, to the podcasting space. That's why I feel like it's important, you know, cuz I feel like if she loses, then it's just like, yeah, vele ama podcasters they just talk ish,” MacG explained.

Sol Phenduka disagreed, saying,

“I don't think even if Candace Owen wins, I don't feel like it's going to shift the needle that much.”

Why did Minnie Dlamini sue MacG and Sol Phenduka?

Minnie Dlamini and MacG's beef goes way back, but the final nail in the coffin was MacG's damning allegations about Minnie following her breakup with celebrity plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa, after dating for a few weeks. The outspoken media personality joked that maybe Minnie could not keep a relationship for long because she had body odour.

The statement sparked massive outrage on social media, with many calling for MacG to be cancelled. Deputy Minister Mmapaseka Steve Letsike condemned MacG's remarks about Minnie Dlamini, calling them an example of online gender-based violence, and wanted MacG to be summoned to parliament to answer for his statements.

Minnie Dlamini broke her silence after trending for weeks. The star noted that she was going to take legal action against the Podcast & Chill hosts. MacG issued an apology, claiming his statement was never meant to offend anyone. He also invited Minnie Dlamini to the podcast. He said:

"I would like to apologise to the female chillers and South African women in general that I might have offended with that comment. That was not the intention. You know, we never say stuff to offend anyone."

Nota Baloyi advises Minnie Dlamini
