Legendary songstress Thandiswa Mazwai is set to headline the Malibongwe Arts Festival: Tribute To Women 2025 event. The full-day musical event will also feature performances from other talented South African musicians.
The event, which will be hosted at Mark’s Park in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, on Sunday, 24 August 2025, is expected to start at 9 AM and run until 6 PM. Malibongwe Arts Festival: Tribute To Women 2025 will feature a lineup of musicians expected to cater for all age groups and music tastes.
Who will perform at Malibongwe Arts Festival: Tribute To Women 2025?
Apart from Thandiswa Mazwai, who is one of the few South African musicians to grace the NPR Tiny Desk, the event will feature award-winners and multi-platinum-selling artists. Reigning Metro FM Awards Artist of the Year, Makhadzi, joins the lineup alongside Ami Faku and the new-look acapella group The Soil.

House Music group, Mi Casa, who were touted as Red Bull Symphonic future headliners by their fans, also joins the list of acts that will entertain audiences at Mark’s Park. Lloyiso is also expected to serenade Malibongwe Arts Festival: Tribute To Women 2025 audiences.
The lineup isn’t only made up of South African musicians. Audiences will have the opportunity to see UK soul sensation Keshia White, known for her soulful hit Weakness In Me.
What should audiences expect at Malibongwe Arts Festival 2025?
Speaking to TshisaLive, the official ambassador and chairperson of the newly launched Malibongwe Arts Festival Foundation, Dr Criselda Kananda, shared what the event is about.
Kanada said the festival goes beyond just entertaining audiences and is a platform to honour and amplify women’s achievements.
“The Malibongwe Arts Festival isn’t only about entertainment, it’s a space where women's stories are honoured, their contributions amplified and their power celebrated,” said Kananda.

Makhadzi announces dates and all-woman line-up for her event
Meanwhile, Makhadzi is gearing up for her upcoming two-day One Woman Show titled Womandla.
The BET award winner revealed a powerful all-woman first-phase line-up and officially launched the event in her hometown, Thohoyandou, Limpopo, in July 2025.
Makhadzi announced that the show will spotlight 90% Limpopo talent, as she emphasises unity and giving back to her roots.
Makhadzi reportedly fires her longtime DJ
As Makhadzi readies for the 2025 edition of the One Woman Show, she has made some changes to her team, as reported by Briefly News.
The Ghanama hitmaker reportedly parted ways with her DJ after four years of working together. While Makhadzi reportedly gave her reasons for dismissing him, DJ Snani announced his solo journey on social media and suggested that he had left because of his own reasons.
