Former Umkhokha: The Curse actress Alizwa Sikhafungana is counting her losses after she was defrauded by a scammer posing as a manager.

The actress, known for portraying Gabisile on the Mzansi Magic telenovela, candidly opened up about her experience in numerous posts on X (Twitter). She pointed fingers at a man named Mpho Masama, whom she accused of scamming her out of her hard-earned cash.

Former Umkhokha actress reveals how she was scammed

Taking to her X account on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, Alizwa Sikhafungana shared that Mpho Masama was still scamming people. She claimed that Bellair police officers did not take her seriously when she reported the matter. The post was captioned:

“I hear my favourite boy, Mpho Masama 'Ramakgopa', is still scamming people and using companies' names to do his scams, too. I wonder what would have happened if SAPS had actually taken me seriously when I opened a case earlier this year. But Akere, we are clowns thina? Sharp.”

In a thread written on 6 June 2025, Alizwa, who also stars as Lu in the Netflix series Meet the Khumalos, disclosed that she transferred over R4 485 into a bank account that was subsequently closed by Discovery Bank after another victim reported it for fraudulent activity. The post was captioned:

“I paid him R4,485 into an account that had since been closed by Discovery Bank because someone else had reported it for fraud. I also reported him to them for fraud. I don’t know what they’ve done, but SAPS has done nothing for me.”

She disclosed how she gave him the money right after she lost her acting job on Umkhokha: The Curse, before it was replaced by iThonga. She said he initially made false promises to pay her back, but eventually blocked her. The post was captioned:

“He has trended multiple times for this, but he doesn’t stop. He made promises of paying me back until he just blocked me entirely. It really saddens me because this affected me so much. I took R4,485 and gave it to a scammer RIGHT AFTER LOSING MY JOB.”

Mbuso Khoza drags Duma Ka Ndlovu over unpaid royalties

Alizwa Sikhafungana isn't the only former Umkhokha: The Curse cast member that is facing money issues.

Briefly News reported that veteran actor and singer Mbuso Khoza called out producer Duma Ka Ndlovu over unpaid royalties. The former Umkhokha: The Curse star took to social media and dragged the renowned producer for allegedly owing him money for the songs he created for the series.
