Kelly Khumalo Opens Up About Her Most Cherished Memories With the Late Senzo Meyiwa

South African singer Kelly Khumalo spoke about the moment she almost became Mrs Senzo Meyiwa. In a candid interview celebrating her 20 years in the game, Khumalo took the moment to gush over her baby daddy, Senzo.

The late Orlando Pirates goalie died in Kelly Khumalo's Vosloorus home in October 2014 after an apparent home robbery. Khumalo and Meyiwa share a daughter, Thingo Khumalo, who is following in her father's footsteps of being a talented soccer player.

However, Khumalo has been a person of interest in his murder trial, and continues to be even after the state decided to close the case.

Kelly gushes over Senzo Meyiwa

According to Sowetan, Khumalo said that Senzo was the most genuine person she knew and that she had very fond memories of him. The singer said that their love was genuine and strong, that it made her vulnerable to love.

“He was the goofiest yet most genuine person I’ve ever known. He was very loving and giving, the best friend and brother I’ve ever had. That was one genuine relationship that broke down the walls from my upbringing and allowed me to love. Even when things got tough, love was still love between us,” she said.

She also recalled the moment he hinted at making her his wife. Khumalo reminisced about Senzo's goofy side, where he poured Fanta Pine into two glasses and dared her to drink and match his level. If she did, he would marry her on the spot. After two successful tries, Senzo came back home with a catalogue of wedding rings and asked her to choose the one she loved the most.

“That’s the kind of person he was,” she gushed.

Kelly was also very dismissive when asked to speak on the trial, and having her name brought up many times. She stated that she worked too hard for over 20 years to have this case take away from her illustrious career.

With all that she has endured, Kelly's head remains in the game, and she sifts out the noise from social media trolls.

She previously called out the people who continuously link her to Meyiwa's death, saying if people truly believe that she did it, then they should come and get her. Until then, people should back off and let her be.
