On Sunday, 24 August 2025, the Kings Of Jo'Burg star shared an emotional tribute to the late Mama Nandi Nyembe's death on social media. The veteran actress passed away at the age of 75 after she had been consistently asking for donations from netizens online in 2024.

Cici, in her post, wrote how painful it was for her to see a legendary star dying while she had been asking for donations from the public and that she had nothing to show despite being the most talented creative of all time in South Africa.

"I’ll tell you what's more painful than death: it is dedicating your life to your work, but when the final curtain call comes, you have nothing to show for it. Creatives really need to be treated better, especially actors. How long shall it be? Rest in peace, Mama."
