South African actors comforted legendary actress Pamela Nomvete on social media after the star shared that she's being denied entry into South Africa.
Former The Queen actor Themba Ndaba, who starred opposite Nomvete on SABC1's soapie Generations, is saddened by Nomvete's citizenship woes.
The former Generations actress shared on her Instagram account on Saturday, 23 August 2025, that she's being denied entry into South Africa.
"I am sitting here feeling despondent and in pain. In 1994, I went to my ancestral land, South Africa, having been born in exile and acquired my South African citizenship so I could vote for a black majority government. The South African government welcomed us exiles, happy for us to hold dual citizenship!" she wrote.

Nomvete adds that she's been told to prove her South African citizenship, and though she is heartbroken, she'll fight to get her passport and be recognised as a dual citizen, South African, British, born in Ethiopia.
Former Generations actor Themba Ndaba replied to the actress's post and said:
"Oh, MAP😢😢😢."
Scandal! star Lorcia Cooper replied:
"I am so sorry to hear this, Pam, and your heavy heart about it is completely understandable. I pray that God provides ease and a breakthrough. May you be met at all your needs. I am sending love and light ❤️."
Generations: The Legacy actor Aubrey Poo commented:
"I am sorry to hear this 💔"
Actress and TV producer Stephanie Zwane wrote:
"❤️❤️❤️I am sending love."
Actor Thabo Rametsi responded:

South Africans comfort Nomvete
effingart said:
"Damn, what are they thinking? You should be a national treasure; you are already an international treasure. Does Kyoko know about this? Pamela, I will chant that this turns around completely!"
lesedi_job replied:
"Pam, I am so sorry that you are going through this. It’s heartbreaking. I send you so much love ❤️."
ngcobo.pamela commented:
"The fact that you have a real document on hand that just has 8 numbers (date) between you and your freedom of movement and a sense of belonging should be proof enough that you qualify! That expired passport means you produced those documents when it was issued! It’s now just a matter of printing a new document with a new set of 8 numbers (date)! And let you be! I’m so sorry you have to go through this. God’s speed."
fezekajona responded:
"I know there was a decision made about dual citizenship recently, but I had no idea one has to jump through so many hurdles😢😢."
