Great news for the veteran actor, Ronnie Nyakale, as it was announced that he will be returning to the showbiz industry soon.

After months of being a Bolt driver due to not getting booked for any roles on TV, on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, the popular entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela, excitedly announced on his X (formerly Twitter) page that the former Generations: The Legacy star is part of the cast for the upcoming drama series.

The new drama series, which is premiering in September 2025, is called Higher Grade and set in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. Renowned star Mothusi Magano will also be joining the cast of the new SABC1 show.

Speaking to Briefly News, SABC PR Specialist Caroline Phalakatshela shared with journalist Mbali Tebele what the show is all about.

"In the drama, schools in Ekurhuleni have struggled with a low matric pass rate. In response, the education department has pressured them to phase out maths and science, arguing that removing these challenging subjects will boost overall results. This creates a conflict between raising pass rates and preserving vital subjects," she said.
