Hits such as Show Me Love, Bliss and Push 2 Start remix are giving the other songs a run for their money.
"Tyla and DJ Maphorisa lead South Africa’s Global Sound Takeover, as Spotify released its 2025 Global Impact List, spotlighting the top 30 South African tracks that made the biggest waves internationally in the first half of the year."
While Tyla has seemingly gone mainstream in the United States, Phori has also made a name for himself in the market. South Africans in the comments section are immensely proud of the two stars, and they gave them their flowers.
Tyla on staying true to her sound
Speaking of international moves, Tyla was recently featured on the cover of Variety. She put her record label Epic Records on blast for forcing her to make bubblegum-pop music, something that is foreign to her. Tyla revealed that she gravitates more towards amapiano, afrobeats, and rnb music.
“[Those songs] didn’t feel like me at all. I remember being in my hotel room, and my managers were calling me, ‘Come down, we need to cut the song.’ I was crying and thinking, ‘This is not what I want. I didn’t get signed to do this.’ They had to [coax] me out of that room. But I think that through doing that, I realised how much more I love African music. It made me more persistent in keeping my ideas.”
She admitted to feeling like she was not ready for the fame that came after Water, but through determination, she conquered.
