A Gauteng student stunned social media users when she paid R12.25 for Uber Moto, an option on the e-hailing app that allows passengers to travel via a motorbike. However, the affordable option divided South Africans.

On 19 August, 2025, Mośebodi Mary Morotoba uploaded a video on her TikTok account showing how she sat smiling as a passenger on a motorbike while wearing a helmet.

The clip also included a screenshot of the option she chose, which was the most affordable among other travelling options on the app.

Uber also added a disclaimer, where a portion of it read the following:

Uber Moto surprises South Africans

The viral video had several social media users in South Africa wanting to experience Uber Moto, with some people sharing that the option wasn't made available on their profiles. However, others were against it.

@omphemetsephahledi stated with a laugh:

"I just checked, and mine does not give me this option. I wanted to be a biker girl for a day."
