According to Garrith Jamieson, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, the school children were going home when the driver lost control of the taxi. He then crashed into the wall of a nearby building.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and immediately began treating patients on the scene. While paramedics were busy tending to the injured, members of the public assisted in calling the parents of the learners.

After all the learners were treated on the scene, they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for further care. There were no fatalities suffered in the crash.

“At this stage, the events leading up to the crash are unknown; however, SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further," Jamieson said.
