Banyana Banyana forward Gabriela Salgado has broken her silence after suffering a horrific injury during South Africa's defeat against Nigeria in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final in Morocco.
Banyana Banyana stumbled to a 2-1 defeat against the Super Falcons, and it ended their chances of defending the title they won in 2022 in the same country.
Desiree Ellis explained why Banyana lost to Nigeria and also narrated how Salgado's injury impacted her team's performance in the match.
South Africa finished fourth in the competition after losing in the third-place playoff on penalties against the Black Queens of Ghana on Friday evening.

Salgado breaks silence after a horrific injury
Salgado has come out to appreciate the football community on her Instagram page following the good gesture she received from almost everybody after she suffered a bad injury against the Super Falcons.
The 27-year-old had surgery on her leg, and she's currently recovering. She extended her gratitude to CAF and other teams for showing her support.

“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude,” Gabriela Salgado shared in a heartfelt message following her injury at WAFCON.
“I just want to take a moment to say a massive thank you to everyone who has reached out with love, support, and prayers. It’s been an emotional few days, but I truly feel uplifted by the kindness surrounding me.
“To my family, friends, and colleagues back home, your messages and calls have kept my spirit strong. Thank you for standing by me. To my Banyana Banyana family, the team manager, doctors, physio, coaches, and every single player, thank you for the incredible care, support, and love. You made me feel safe, seen, and genuinely cared for."

Kgatlana speaks after missing out on WAFCON
Briefly News also reported that Thembi Kgatlana broken her silence after being dropped from the Banyana Banyana squad for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco.
The former Benfica forward was part of the team that won the last edition of the competition in Morocco but she missed out on this year's tournament after being dropped.
