Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has commented on Oswin Appollis' star performance against his former club Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-final.

The South African international scored the first goal of the game and also won the penalty that was converted by Patrick 'Tito' Maswanganyi as the Sea Robbers booked a place in the semi-final of the competition.

The Bafana Bafana forward was named Man of the Match for his performance, but ended the game with a cramp and was replaced by another summer signing, Tshepang Moremi, in the second half.

Ouaddou reacts to Appollis' performance

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, Orlando Pirates assistant coach Ouaddou expressed his delight at Oswin Appollis' performance, while also crediting the team effort behind the win.

"I'm happy for him. We've known Appollis for a long time, and when he's surrounded by quality players, you really see the best of him," said Ouaddou.
"But it's not just about him, I want to congratulate all the boys. He earned the Man of the Match award thanks to the collective performance."

Ouaddou acknowledged the importance of the victory but emphasised that the job is far from over.

"It's a big win for us, but it's not finished. We still have to go through the semi-final. The goal is to win the MTN8 cup," he added.
"Orlando Pirates have won the MTN8 three years in a row. Now we have to win it again. It won't be easy, but we'll give it our all."
