Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has offered an update on Lucas Ribeiro’s ongoing absence, as the Brazilian forward has yet to make his debut for the club this season.

The Brazilian star has been linked with a move away from Sundowns this summer with several foreign clubs showing interest in him.

Cardoso breaks silence on how he's adjusting Ribeiro's absence

In an interview after Pirates clash, Cardoso explained how he's been adjusting to Ribeiro's absence and he's not his job to address what's going on between the player and the club.

“No one should be comparing players, whether it’s a right winger or any other position, on or off the field,” said Cardoso following Sundowns’ 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final on Saturday.
“You can’t expect a carbon copy of someone who’s no longer part of the team. As for Lucas, I don’t think it’s my place to comment. In time, everything regarding his situation will be made clear. What I can say is that Arthur is stepping up and performing very well.”

The Portuguese manager outlined what Sales brings to the table since Ribeiro's absence from the team and his countryman taking up his role.

"He’s bringing energy, doing what’s required in that role, and making a real impact. Like I said, no player can replace another exactly, they might share a position, but each brings something different to the game,” he added.
