Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale has shared his thoughts on reports claiming transfer speculations his affecting Relebohile Mofokeng's performance this season.

The South African international was named the best young player last season in the Premier Soccer League, but he is yet to replicate the same performance this season.

He is seen as one of the players who should lead the Sea Robbers' title challenge this season but his poor form at the start of the campaign is putting his inclusion under serious questioning.

Motale in a recent interview shared his thoughts on the performance of the youngster this season and denied claims that Nkota's move abroad affected Rele's form.

He also believes that transfer speculations surrounding the Pirates winger is not the cause for his poor form.

“No, he’s not affected. Nkota joined the team after Mofokeng had already made his mark in the senior squad,” Motale said during the interview.
“So there’s nothing that’s going to unsettle Mofokeng. As for me, I don’t pay attention to rumours.”

Mofokeng's former teammate at Orlando Pirates, Mohau Nkota, who recently moved to the Saudi Professional League also shared his thoughts the Bafana Bafana forward's performance.

“I’m not sure what’s going on with my boy, but he’ll be okay,” Nkota said when asked about the situation on Metro FM Sports. “I don’t really know, there’s a lot of talk going around.”

The Al-Ettifaq winger also aired his views about Mofokeng being affected by his departure from the club this summer.

“We don’t really know if he’s affected or not,” he said. “But I wish him all the best and hope he performs even better than he did last season.”
