Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has shared his excitement after equaling the Premier Soccer League (PSL) goal-scoring record of Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe in the Brazilians' win over Magesi on Wednesday evening.
The Namibian international, alongside Khuliso Mudau and Lucas Ribeiro, missed the season's opening fixtures against Richards Bay and Chippa United.
However, the 31-year-old surprisingly started the match against Magesi and repaid the manager's faith in him by scoring Sundowns' second goal after Jayden Adams had opened the scoring at Seshego Stadium.
Shalulile Reacts After Equalling Nomvethe's Record
Shalulile’s goal was his 129th in the PSL, matching the tally of Bafana Bafana legend Siyabonga Nomvethe. He achieved this feat weeks after being linked with a move away from Sundowns this summer.

The Sundowns striker could move past Nomvethe and become the all-time PSL top scorer when Masandawana face Kaizer Chiefs in their next match in the Betway Premiership.
Reacting to equaling the PSL goal-scoring record, the Namibian forward thanked his Sundowns teammates and shared his excitement for the season ahead.
"To be honest, I just want to thank my teammates," he told SuperSport TV. "For us, it’s about coming into the game and scoring goals. But I believe many more goals will come."
Looking ahead to the season, Shalulile added, "I’m looking forward to my first start. I don’t want to mention too much about the top goal scorer, but I know it’s going to end very well this year."
The Namibian striker also confirmed that he has set himself a high target for goals this season, aiming to score 21 goals in the campaign.
"To score many more goals, I believe they will come; I just need to get my confidence back," he said. "25 goals, with God by my side, it’s possible."
